Moratalaz
Your residential and relaxed home
Overview
Moratalaz is packing parks, quiet streets, supermarkets and schools. The Quiet Life, in other words.
It's relaxed, but not too far from the city centre. If you like sports, and you like the local life, you'll do well here.
There are bars, pizzerias and local shops, but not much else. That's why the people who live here, live here.
What can I do here?
Take a long walk in Retiro Park. The Cuña Verde de O'Donnell Park is close, too.
La Elipa sports centre has an outdoor pool and a baseball pitch.
In Parque Darwin, you can learn about the 1st Moratalaz settlers. It's a 9,000-year-old Neolithic site. So far, archaeologists have found tools for hunting, tools for harvesting and a stone shelter.
Hotel Claridge faces Conde de Casal metro. The restaurant serves good Spanish food at good prices.
And from there, it's a short metro ride to Puerta del Sol or Plaza Mayor. The Madrid night waits.
Paella fact
In 2001, in Moratalaz, Valencia native Antonio Galbis broke the Guinness World Record for the largest paella ever made. Over 100,000 locals enjoyed the record-smashing paella. Delicious.
