Overview
Esposizione Universale Roma (EUR) is Rome's main commercial district. It's characterized by the clean lines of high-rise buildings that really mean business.

(Commercial district ... mean business ... get it?)

But that's not all there is here. EUR is also home to lush parks, a big lake, and tree-lined streets.

It's a good place for a picnic.

What can I do here?
Aside from working and living, EUR has some culture to offer.

There are several museums, including the Museum of Roman Civilization. It has a scale model of ancient Rome. Pretty cool.

For a bit of everything, head to PalaLottomatica. This large sports-and-entertainment arena hosted the 1960 Olympic Basketball tournament.

You can also visit the monastery of Abbazia delle Tre Fontane. The doors are open all day. The monks sell a range of homemade produce. We're sure it tastes heavenly.

Hungry? EUR has plenty of restaurants, with prices to suit all pockets. Check out the views from Il Fungo at the top of the tower in Piazza Pakistan, perhaps?

Claudio Torcè makes gelato at his gelateria on Viale dell'Aeronautica. It's so good it became a franchise. He serves 8 different chocolate flavours and even savoury options like peanut butter or blue cheese. You first.

Furious fact
Many big name bands played the PalaLottomatica stadium, including Dire Straits and The Rolling Stones.

But that all changed in 1975.

Infuriated Lou Reed fans vandalized the venue to protest high ticket prices. The concert was cancelled, and famous artists refused to play in Italy for the next 5 years. Dramatic!
