Quarto Cagnino
Small-town life in the big city
Overview
Rural. Tranquil. Historic.
In Quarto Cagnino, you’ll have the luxury of slow-paced life in the busy city.
It’s always been an agricultural, rustic hub. It has humble and traditional farming roots.
Now, there’s high-rise apartment blocks. But it still manages to maintain links to its rural past. There are Milanese “cascines” (old farm houses) and lots of green space.
Looking for a traditional, quiet life in Milan? Quarto Cagnino might be for you!
What can I do here?
Cagnino offers a calm and simple lifestyle. There are supermarkets and basic services. Trendy bars and restaurants are few and far between.
But if you love greenery and open spaces this is the place for you! There’s the Parco di Trenno and the Parco delle Cave. The former has walking trails, and spaces for picnicking. The latter is full of lakes and has running and biking paths.
For a truly magical experience, head over to Parco delle Cave in May and June. That’s when the Lusiroeula happens. It’s also known as the “Wedding Dance of the Fireflies” and it’s the time of year when fireflies are at their brightest. There’s nothing quite like it!
This is a great location for sports fans too. Have a flutter on the gee-gees at the nearby ippodromo, or head into San Siro on game day. Cagnino is less than 20 minutes by bus from the stadium, home of both Internazionale and A.C. Milano.
Come on you Reds!
We mean Blues…
No, Reds…
Oh we can’t decide. You’ll have to choose a favourite for yourself.
Faithful fact
Quarto Cagnino was once a very important village. It was a stopping point for people on pilgrimages to the Holy Land. People also passed through to get to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
