Overview
Dergano is sandwiched between the towering and cosmopolitan Isola and the post-industrial home of Politecnico di Milano, Bovisa.
The district has a calm, community vibe. But don’t take that to mean it’s boring.
There’s plenty of bars and restaurants to cater to the student community: the Politecnico only a 10–20 minute walk away after all.
Walk to class in one direction, and enjoy a touch of class in the other.
So head out and enjoy the fun on Saturday. Relax in your quiet, friendly community on Sunday. Sounds like the perfect weekend to us!
What can I do here?
Start your day with a peaceful stroll through one of the area’s many parks. Check out the Parco Nicolò Savarino. It has a play area for children and is great for dogs, too.
After that, there’s plenty to do in nearby Isola.
You can Get classy in Blue Note, a popular jazz bar. It has live music 6 nights a week.
Or you can get grimy (and possibly tattooed) on Via Genova Thaon de Revel. It’s a street famous for its motorcycles and themed shops.
But at the end of the day, you’ll be coming home to Dergano. Try a Milanese-style pizza at one of the local restaurants. There’s plenty to choose from!
For a drink, we recommend a trip to Vinyl Pub. It has amazing cocktails at a decent price. It can get busy though - it’s a popular place!
Prefer to dance the night away? Check out Alcatraz nightclub – it’s one of the most popular in the city, and looks like an old aircraft hangar. But step inside and you’ll find aircraft. What you will find, are a bar, a massive dance floor, and even concerts. Party on!
Charnal fact
Maciachini was named after Carlo Maciachini. He was an Italian architect who studied in Milan. He designed the Monumental Cemetery in 1866. It’s full of artistic tombs and monuments. To this day, it’s still the biggest cemetery in Milan.
