Centro
The heart and soul of metropolitan Milan
Overview
It’s in the name - Centro is smack bang in the bullseye of Milan.
Here, life is extraordinary. Centro has everything that describes Milan: wealth, art, fashion and history. If you want any of those, you’ve come to the right place.
Milan is the financial capital of Italy and one of the wealthiest cities in the world, so beware! Centro doesn’t come cheap. Save some cash before checking in.
But, the expense is worth it. You’ll be surrounded by the best that Italy has to offer, and you can’t put a price on that.
We doubt you’ll want to leave. But if you want to escape the hustle and bustle, there are plenty of transport links to the rest of Milan. You’ll find the trains are busier coming in than going out!
What can I do here?
Centro is home to Milan’s spectacular Duomo cathedral. Start there. You can get in for only €3. It may be the best €3 you spend in your life.
Want some more culture? Check out the Museo Duomo - sister museum to the cathedral. There are a few other fabulous churches, too: San Vittore al Corpo is a particular favourite.
Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is a beautiful university campus. We highly recommend walking the grounds if you get the chance.
But if the past makes you yawn, take a trip to the present! This is Milan, and Milan means shopping.
The Quadrilatero della Moda is Milan’s iconic fashion district, just outside Centro. Expect Dolce, Prada and Gucci at eye-watering prices! Burn some cash and update your wardrobe. Classy.
If all this sightseeing and shopping is making you hungry, go to ‘PIZ’. It’s the best pizza in Milan. You also get free prosecco while you wait for your table. Yummy.
After dinner, it’s time to relax. Go over to Parco Sempione. It’s big, green and beautiful. You can also visit the incredible Castello Sforzesco, an ancient military stronghold.
Phew! And to think you did all this on the first day.
Welcome to Centro!
Fun fact
Duomo cathedral is bigger than most football stadiums in Italy. It has a capacity of 40,000 people! And it still has room for over 3,000 statues, the most of any cathedral in the world!
