One of Madrid's most mesmerizing districts, Vallecas has a close-knit community where thousands of immigrants from around the world have set up home. Don't expect airs and graces here. It's strictly no-frills. You may recognize its streets from Almodóvar's film Volver, starring Penélope Cruz. Despite being shot to stardom, it’s very affordable.
