Because I prefer the quiet side of the river.
You’ll love this...
Rollerblading along the Manzanares. Because rollerblading is still cool in Madrid.
But you won’t love this...
It’s just outside the city centre, and moves at a slightly slower pace. But there’s plenty of life outside the hotspots in Madrid.
Will I like living here?...
You might just love it. Just west of the Manzanares, you can enjoy lovely little plazas, manicured parks, and excellent local restaurants. It’s an ideal spot for families or people on a budget. Hop across the iconic Segovia Bridge and you’re practically in the city centre.
Outdoorsy? There are endless trails to explore on foot, bike, or blade.
Hungry? Swing by Productos Zabala for the best empanadas (pies) in the city.
Thirsty? Drop into Mercado de Tirso Molina for a caña (glass of beer) or a Vermouth.
And if you’re bored...
Parque de Atracciones: Bored in Madrid?! Need a Rollercoaster?
Google rating: 4.⅕
And this Google review nails it:
”It’s not Port Aventura (Barcelona), but it’s a pretty nice theme park.”
Anything else?
Affordable living, the other side of the River.
And did you know?…
There is a huge artificial lake close by in Casa de Campo. It’s a great spot for some boating or lakeside eating and drinking. Oh, but there isn’t actually any water in it at the moment (although it’s due to be filled in November 2018).
Move here to be near:
* Casa de Campo
* Río Manzanares
* Madrid Arena
Getting to and from the airport...
You can take a taxi from Madrid Barajas International Airport. It will cost you roughly €30 and 25 minutes.
