Overview
Are you a student or young professional?...
Are you looking to be right in the thick of it?...
While saving some money?...
Fancy seeing new shops and boutiques open every day?...
Desperately in need of a crocodile-burger for lunch?...
Looks like you found the right place.
What can I do here?
Chill out and relax (in the open)...
You are right around the corner from both Mile End Park and Victoria Park.
The first is excellent for a lazy kick-about with some friends.
The second is bigger and hosts popular summer festivals (check out All Points East). It also has 3 ponds, a playground for the younger ones, and a cafe.
Make a bright choice for your future...
Queen Mary University of London is in the heart of neighboring Mile End.
It’s good too – ranked 9th best for research (among UK multi-faculty universities). You’ll make friends with people from all over the world.
Grab an exotic bite...
The Greedy Cow on Mile End Road, like many other places, specializes in burgers. However, here you’ll find crocodile, kangaroo, and ostrich on the menu, as well as good old-fashioned pork and beef.
The place is cowboy themed, but it’s not cheesy, and it does serve breakfast. All in all, worth a go.
Pay less rent, get the same trendy neighbours...
Lucky you. Mile End is right next to fashionable hotspots like Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, and Brick Lane (how dernier cri).
This means the coolest shops and hippest clubs are never more than a few tube stops away. With one added bonus: living in Mile End, you pay less rent.
History fact
Mile End was heavily bombed during The Second World War.
As late as 2007, an old bomb was found in the area, and around 100 residents had to be evacuated.
