Islington
Your cosy but classy - vibrant while residential - central seclude.
You’ll love this...
Islington is an up-and-coming area just to the north of The City of London. Young professionals and other swank folk are moving into newly renovated flats on a weekly basis but the area still has a grounded feel to it.
But you won’t love this...
Brexiters and lazy journalists at the Daily Mail will call you and all of your neighbours champagne socialists for living here. This might be more than a bit of a stretch but the area is very hipster. If that’s not your scene
How do I get Around
You’ll be on the Northern Line in the south parts while the Victoria Line and Overground serve the north.
There are plenty of bus stops on most roads and you are no more than 30 minutes by foot from central London and other cool areas like Camden and Hackney.
Will I like it here?...
If you enjoy the best of modern life but want to keep in touch with yesterday, you’ll adore it.
The streets are full of contemporary gastro pubs and fashionable restaurants in old buildings. The food is - almost always - excellent and reasonably priced too.
Really? Tell me more?...
It’s great for shopping too.
You’ll find lots of Independent shops on Islington High Street, Upper Street and the small roads around them.
You should definitely check out Paper Mache Tiger and add some eccentric items to your wardrobe while sipping a tasty coffee. This google reviewer forgot to mention the cool and stylish clothes but seemed to love the experience:
“Friendly staff, and tasty, well priced coffee. Beautiful store with lots of quirkiness.”
What can I do here?...
You can have all the convenience and luxury of a hip urban lifestyle and still have some great green spaces to enjoy.
The New River Path ends here. The London section of this 45 kilometer walk is doable in an afternoon and will take you past some beautiful spaces with a real country-side feel to them.
I’m still not convinced...
Well, now that you’ve outgrown the student life-style and moved to a area that requires a big-boy or big-girl job to pay the rent you might be thinking of kids.
Islington has 46 primary schools and a ton of family friendly activities. Why not teach the small ones about their area’s history at the London Canal Museum or about the world’s tiniest organism and their ways Gillespie Park and Ecology Centre,
