Because I want the cooler side of L’Eixample.
You’ll love this...
It’s the new centre. The epicentre of cool.
But you won’t love this...
It’s not quite the historic charmer that is Ciutat Vella.
Will I like living here?...
Classic meets contemporary in this fashionable and iconic neighbourhood. It’s a little more relaxed than L’Eixample Dreta, and all about the lifestyle.
The streets are busy. The locals enjoy cafes, sophisticated bars, and restaurants lining beautiful boulevards.
Dry Martini is a world famous cocktail bar with a very cool speakeasy vibe. They claim to have served over a million martinis. Needless to say, they know how to make ‘em. Great gin selection too.
Fans of Catalan Modernism rejoice, there are plenty of Gaudi’s whimsical creations to admire around here.
And if you’re bored...
Mercat del Ninot: Let’s face it, you’ll be doing a lot of eating, and this is good place to start.
Google rating: 4.⅗
And this Google review nails it:
”They have it all here, including bars where you can sample the produce while enjoying a drink. More local than La Boqueria, it has a more authentic feel.” – An accomplishment indeed.
Anything else?
Renting an apartment around here can be pricey, and you might not have much left for pinchos and vermouth. For more affordable options look left. Things get a lot more affordable down towards Sants.
And did you know?…
This fun Barça barrio is home to “Gaixample” and you’ll find plenty of LGBT-friendly clubs and bars.
