I love words, books and dreams. But you should already know that by now. I'm a part-time travel writer and I try my best to describe places and destinations in the most genuine and honest way. However, there are emotions and feelings that seem impossible to describe. This is when I go online and search for great authors' travel quotes. I add them to my articles or scribble them on my journal as I catch a plane or explore a new country.

What are your favourite travel quotes?

Here are mine!

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. – Jennifer Lee

This one by Jennifer Lee is one of my all-time favourite quotes. For me is like a life mantra more than a travel quote. It reminds me of pursuing my dreams whatever happens in the rest of my life.

2. Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. -Gustav Flaubert

Travelling around the world for two years, really put things into perspective for me. I realised that there are far bigger things that my tiny, silly problems. When you travel to some far-away countries in the world you really realise how lucky we are!

3. Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. – Ibn Battuta

Oh well! Nothing truer was ever said in my opinion. It's really thanks to my travels that my Instagram journey started! And it's where I keep my followers up to date as I roam the planet...

4. Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times

I used to read a lot of books when I was little! It's there, I think, among those pages that my travel bug really started. I would dream of these places and when I grew up a made of list of them. I've seen some - not all - of the places that were described in those books.

5. To Travel is to Live – Hans Christian Andersen

One of my favourite travel quotes of all time! Now that I'm a [digital nomad](Things to Know Before Becoming a Digital Nomad) and I travel full-time, this quote is like my religion. For me, moving from country to country has become like catching a bus and I couldn't live without it!

6. Work, Travel, Save, Repeat

I have no idea who said that, but it's pretty much my life philosophy. Every month I save money which I put in my Wanderlust Savings Account and every now and then I add a new wonderful destination to my list. It's amazing, right?

7. He who would travel happily must travel light. -Antoine de St. Exupery

Man! When I left London with my 20kgs backpack I thought I did a great job. How wrong I was! A few months later, in fact, I realised I only needed less than half of that stuff. Nowadays, I just travel with a carry-on and since I am a minimalist I like to keep my possessions to a minimum (except for dozens of boxes of books).

8. Not all those who wander are lost. -J.R.R. Tolkien

I've been told I was crazy when I left my well-paid job in London. I've been told twice I was crazy when I said I was never going back to corporate life. And I've been told hundreds time that I'm lost. Guess what? I've never been so found in my entire life! I wonder, but not to find anything, I wonder because it's the reason of my life. Exactly like J.R.R. Tolkien said.

9. Travelling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comforts of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things. -air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky. -all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.– Cesare Pavese

This quote by Cesare Pavese must be one of my very favourite of all times. It says it all. This is travel. Brutal and scary. Uncomfortable and off-balance. The beauty of it lies in how you cope with this.

10. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. -Helen Keller

This famous travel quote by Helen Keller is another mantra I repeat to myself any time I'm about to board a plane or hop on a train/bus. And since I thrive to make my life a remarkable journey, I couldn't agree more with her.

I have so many friends who get consumed by their everyday lives, forgetting that every single second of life should be important and appreciated. Of course, I'm among the lucky ones, but no matter what circumstance you’re in, you can definitely try to make the best of your situation and TRAVEL.
