With spring right around the corner, so is rooftop season! What better way to prepare for the nice weather than a perfectly tailored list of rooftops for our top 5 most popular cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Milan & Rome. If you live in one of these cities we got you covered, if you don't I suggest it is time for you to pick your next travel destination, or wait for part 2 of this blog to come out !

Everybody loves cocktail season, especially in Madrid people go crazy for “copas” with the most popular ones being “Vodka limon” “Gin tonics” & “Cuba libre”. For your refreshing order we will suggest to you 2 different options for each city!

Madrid

If you live here you are very lucky, Madrid is the perfect city for rooftop bars, the weather is always great so you don't have to worry about anything besides the warm  sun shining on you,  just sit back and relax while enjoying the breathtaking views you will be able to see from above. Our first pick is the 360 rooftop bar at Riu Plaza Espana. With this pick you will have to pay an entry fee between 5-10€ if you are not staying at the hotel but it is totally worth it to do once! The bar is on the 27th floor of the majestic and newly renovated Hotel Riu Plaza España. The circle shaped terrace gives you an amazing overview of the capital city and is both enjoyable during the day as it is during the night when the city's lights are on. The terrace also offers its guests a fun instagramable moment. There is a glass walkway stretching between two wings of the building where you feel like you are walking on air. Overall the rooftop is very modern and cosy, with a great list of cocktails, wines & beers and very comfy lounge sofas.

Our second pick is the El Viajero, located in the La Latina neighbourhood. This rooftop terrace is beautiful. The place is way smaller and gives a more cosy and easy going vibe to the place. Sitting on the 3rd floor surrounded by a rooftop garden and sipping on freshly made cocktails at the bar is the perfect combo for a sunset surrounded by friends. This option is also a more budget friendly one, and is located in the old town of Madrid, expect cool views!

Barcelona

Similar to Madrid, you will hardly be disappointed by Barcelona regarding its weather and your possibilities of going out! Barcelona also has one offer that the capital can’t compete with: the beach. Our first pick for Barcelona is the well known The Pulitzer Terrace at Hotel Pulitzer. This great venue is located right next to the Plaza de Catalunya which is a super central and fun part of the city. This bar is special because it is well known for its entertainment and music. With live performances from bands, to singers to DJ’s the bar got you covered for all tastes in music genres. The Pulitzer is a great place for a fun dance evening with drinks and friends.

The next location we spotted for you in Barcelona is a hidden gem right in front of the Sagrada Familia. This is for sure the top place for a breathtaking up front view of this masterpiece of Architecture The attic terrace on top of the Ayre Hotel Rosellon is very spacious, has a wooden covered floor and is quite simple in decoration but stylish and natural. It is for sure a top location for a relaxed drink and an admiring spot for the Sagrada Familia.

Lisbon

Our next door neighbor from Spain, is another top-destination for people who love exploring dining and drinking with a view. Our first spot we recommend is Limão Rooftop Bar really brings the beach and summer vibe right to the city, with its blue and white tile floor, a white bar with stylish & modern lounge furniture. The terrace sits on the 10th floor of the hotel and offers both indoor and outdoor sitting. The bar is very romantic and the perfect spot for your partner and yourself to have a cocktail and some fresh Portuguese tapas.

Next is Park, a trendy urban rooftop located on top of a parking lot for exceptional sunsets and immaculate vibes from the place. There are usually different DJ’s setting the nice lounge mood with good music and great views. The cocktails also come at a better price, perfect for young travelers and adults to meet up and enjoy their evening after a long day of work.

Milan

In the beautiful city of Milan we found another hidden gem for our first pick called: Rooftop Visionair. This place is super cool and different, situated on top of an old factory, the terrace transformed this place into a rooftop garden with grass covering the floor and trees planted on top of the terrace. It is an amazing place for a sense of city space. Although you are still in Milan, being on top of an old factory redecorated as a garden gives you a sense of closeness to nature and all the relaxing benefits that come with it. The venue is open to artists and DJ’s in order to set the tone and relaxed environment.

Spot number 2 in Milan is perfect for the tourists or wanna be tourists for the day. As I am sure you guessed, this next bar is located in the Piazza Duomo. The bar is called La Rinascente and is just outside of the cathedral. The bar is perfectly located for a day in Milan, after some sightseeing of the most popular places you can go for a luxurious shopping experience and finish it off with some aperol spritzes and great Italian aperitivo.
Since you are there now in Piazza Duomo please don't go without paying a visit to da Luini, a traditional bakery that is known worldwide for its emblematic Panzerotti. Trust me you will be in a food coma, and stargaze about this amazing dish like in the ratatouille movie scene when he gets a taste of the cheese. You will thank me later!

Rome

Finally our last city Roma dolce Roma, Hey Güey is the name of our first pick. Do not expect a traditional Italian bar but rather a fun Mexican themed rooftop bar with fun energy. This terrace is located on top of the hotel Chapter Roma. The terrace is a very colorful and stylish subtropical rooftop garden that takes you on a trip closer to the Pacific Ocean and the beaches of Acapulco, where you are surrounded with cactus flowers, figs of 'India' and panoramic views over the Roman roofs and domes. With Amazing Margaritas you will be able to also enjoy some nice Mexican tapas and food. We recommend you visit this place if you are up to a break from your city in a refreshing mood.

And now onto the last bar on our list; Tiziano Terrace by Monti view. A very stylish terrace and panoramic terrace offering you an outstanding view of the eternal city. It is the perfect place to grab a drink after a visit to the colosseum as it is only a 10 minute walk from there.

This hidden gem is perfect for enjoying unique wines, crafted cocktails and Mediterranean inspired bites.
