Alternative Things to do in Barcelona: A Bohemian Guide
Want to make the most out of your weekend in Barcelona but are tired of large crowds of tourists? Spotahome has created a Bohemian Guide to Barcelona where you can find local tips on how to explore the city off the beaten path, find new cafes and spend time getting lost in the narrow streets of Barri Gotic.
Spotahome’s bohemian guide to Barcelona:
Amazing View of The City – The Bunkers of El Carmel
There are many ways to get to the top of The Bunkers of El Carmel – in order to avoid the crowds we suggest a morning hike. Those looking for an adventure should explore beyond the conventional routes – you’ll be surprised by the many undiscovered and undisturbed viewpoints you can find that are perfect for morning yoga or meditation (and dog petting).
Surreal Escape in Back in Time – Plaza de Sant Felip Neri
This tiny square holds plenty of history and, to this day, it is a surreal sight. The area now hosts a church and a school – to avoid the crowds, make sure you visit before lunchtime.
Fun fact: Evanescence’s My Immortal video was filmed here and parts of the movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona were shot in the cafe next to the square.
Hipster Shops and Cafes – El Born and the Gothic Quarter
Cafe Kafka – Restaurant with amazing food and a fantastic terrace on which to soak up the sun.
Address: Calle Fusina, 7 08003, Barcelona, Spain
Satan’s Coffee Corner – One of the best coffees in the city. Irony alert: it’s coffee heaven.
Address: Carrer de l’Arc de Sant Ramon Del Call, 08002 Barcelona, Spain
Sabater Hermanos – One of the best soap shops in town.
Address: Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, 1, 08002 Barcelona
Quiet Time on The Sun – The Other Side of The Beach
For a quieter atmosphere, venture out to the beach situated between Barcelona and a seaside town called Badalona. Don’t forget to stop by La Heladeria Mexicana, on the La Barceloneta beach, and enjoy the amazing tequila ice cream – they even have vegan options!
Infused Gin and Tonic – XIX Bar
Address: Carrer de Rocafort, 19, 08015 Barcelona
For an adventurous evening, head back to the Sant Antoni area and stop at XIX Bar. Trust us on this one. They have a fantastic selection of infused gin and tonic – cinnamon, lemon, strawberries, and whatever else your heart desires. A perfect way to finish your bohemian day out in Barcelona.
