Here are Clothilde’s best Barcelona tips:
- Try stay out of the tourist spots and enjoy a sunny terrace instead – check out Plaça d’Osca, Plaça de la Concordia or Carrer de Blai!
- Although they might seem like a climb, make sure you check out The Tibidabo for its amazing view, beautiful church and the old amusement park. If you’re looking for an awesome sunset picture, climb to Bunkers del Carmel – it has a fantastic history and a beautiful view over Barcelona.

Favorite areas in Barcelona?
- Poble Sec
Poble Sec is full of bars and theatres, perfect for those looking to escape crowds of tourists. Don’t forget to visit the Caixa Forum – I love their exhibitions!
- El Born
El Born is very fashionable and has kept the local atmosphere, despite being in the city centre. The neighbourhood has Barcelona’s best nightlife and culture. Calle Montcada alone will keep you occupied all day long!
- Gracia
Gracia is different from any other neighbourhoods in Barcelona and has the tightest community of locals. So if you’re looking for best tips from a Barcelona local, you better stop by for a chat in one of the cafes!
Clothilde’s go-to Barcelona spots:
- For the best views of the city
El Mirador de Montjuic and Bunkers del Carmel! They both offer amazing views and are best at sunsets – although you should be warned that you won’t be alone as many people visit these attractions to catch that magical sunset. If you’re an early riser, I’d recommend visiting Bunkers del Carmel during sunrise.
- For some cultural inspiration
Casa Batlló. This colourful renovated building is just one of Gaudi’s masterpieces, but it’s an excellent inspiration source for artists. I just love the unusual shape and its colors.
- For an unforgettable date night
Font Màgica! This magical fountain was built in 1929 and it’s one of the most popular attractions of Barcelona. It also holds a very popular Piromusical display, shown at the end of the ALSO popular La Mercè festival.
- For wanting to see something magical
La Sagrada Familia. I know, I know, it’s very touristy, but how can you not visit this beauty? If you’ve never been inside, go to the top of the towers and catch an amazing view of the city. Trust me, it’s worth the queues.
