48 Hour Guide to Barcelona
Barcelona is one of those European cities that comes with so much style and character, it’s impossible to experience it all in just 48 hours. But today, we’ll show you the best of the best - this is how you can make sure those 48 hours are the best time you’ve ever had in this magical city!
Day 1
Morning - Hop On, Hop Off bus route 1
Grab a breakfast on the go and head over to one of the Hop On, Hop Off tour buses. These cover most of Barcelona and are a fantastic way to take in the city and learn all necessary quick facts in just a couple of hours.
Afternoon - Park Güell
Step off the bus at Park Güell and experience one of Gaudi’s major and most memorable works in Barcelona. The park should keep you busy for at least a couple of hours, especially if you walk up the Mirador de Joan Sales observation deck.
Evening - Barcelona beach sunset
Since you’re in Barcelona for just 48 hours, you can skip the daytime beach activities and opt out for a sunset on Barcelona beach. If you’re in a cocktail mode, head over to one of the clubs near the beach and spend the night dancing away.
Day 2
Morning - Hop On, Hop Off bus route 2
Don’t spend too long on the bus - head to Sagrada Familia! Buy your tickets in advance and enjoy the fantastic building that captured the hearts of millions. Will Sagrada Familia ever be finished? Rumor has it that the building will be done in 2026! Get back on that bus and spend some time exploring the sights of Barcelona city centre.
Afternoon - Gothic Quarter and surroundings
If there’s an area you absolutely have to see on foot, it’s the Gothic Quarter. Grab lunch in one of the cafes and watch the life pass you by. The Gothic Quarter is full of narrow picturesque streets that are well-worth your time. Stop by the Museum of History of Barcelona if you’re looking to learn more about this cosmopolitan city and its past or head to Cathedral of Barcelona. Make a quick visit to Parc de la Ciutadella - it’s a must.
Evening - Las Ramblas
The famous sunny street of Barcelona must be visited at least once. It’s full of stalls, street performers, and, of course, tourists. But the best time to visit Las Ramblas is actually in the evening. Immerse yourself in the local culture and walk down Las Ramblas at night - stop by a pub or two and dance the night away! It’s a perfect way to finish your 48-hour Barcelona experience!
