Staying fit in London can be hard. Gyms are expensive. Unless you are someone that’s pretty happy with their accommodation, there’s a chance you’ll probably move out of your place before your gym contract runs out, so they're not even convenient anymore. But luckily, London has plenty of alternative ways to stay fit. Some of these are free, some of them are totally crazy, and others are paid - but they’re still the best alternative ways to staying fit in London!

1. GoodGym

If you’re easily bored in the gym, but still want to do some good for others, GoodGym is the volunteer company to check out. You can do a group run and help with the local community, you can run to help the elderly with one-off tasks, or run to visit an isolated person. GoodGym combines the community, volunteering, and fitness at the same time!

2. AntiGravity and Aerial Yoga

AntiGravity yoga has become extremely popular as a fun alternative to regular fitness and even yoga. It was originally created by a broadway dancer as a way to strengthten the dancers’ core. But it quickly became popuar with just about anyone who’s tired of exercising on the ground. You can find AntiGravity yoga classes in plenty of regular gyms as well as yoga studios around London.

3. Hula Hoop

Speaking of new ways of staying fit, hula hooping has been really popular in the good old London town. The good part is, it can be totally free if you want it to be, but I would recommend paying for a Hula class when the weather doesn’t allow you to shake it all out in a park.

4. Meetup Groups

Meetup.com has a huge selection of fitness groups where you’ll be able to not only meet new people, but also stay fit and have some fun along the way. Most of them aren’t gym-based, which means you’ll always be in for somekind of an adventure!

5. Nordic Walking

It might seem unusual, but walking can realy get you fit in London without even trying too hard. You can find several Nordic walking locations in zone 2 and zone 3 areas of London. You’re also taught how to do it properly in order to make sure you never risk an injury, and it doubles as an opportunity to meet new people!

6. Dog Yoga

Enough Said.

7. Beer Yoga

Also enough said. This isn’t a regular event so make sure you book whenever it’s available!

8. Morning Rave

You heard that right. Companies like Daybreaker and Morning Gloryville organize healthy pre-work raves that will inspire and energize you for the rest of the day. There’s dancing, there are smoothies, there’s healthy food, and there’s a lot of good energy. All you need to do is be there at 6AM!

9. Dance like Beyonce

If you’re too intimidated to take professional dance classes but you still want to dance like your fave idol, Beyonce dance classes might be perfect for you. London is filled with teachers that are more than ready to teach you the moves to Single Ladies or any other iconic Beyonce choreography. It’s not free, but it’s totally worth it.

10. British Military Fitness

Not into crossfit? This is the next best thing. It’s the last on our list because it’s probably the most extremem, but it’s definitely worth it. You can take classes depending on your fitness level, but they’re all designed to push you and improve your fitness levels.
